Searching in Outlook

The item you need is not in your Inbox and you don’t want to search each folder separately. In MS Outlook 2007 there is a down arrow on the right side of the search box. Click the down arrow and select Search All Mail Items. This will search all of your folders and return a list of desired items including the name of the folder in which it was found.

In MS Outlook 2003 it say Search In. Click the down arrow and select All Mail Folders.

Sheri - thanks for the tip - I always loved the “Lookout for Outlook” search plug-in for Outlook 2003. I recall that was a third party component that Microsoft eventually purchased. I’ve found that Outlook 2007 no longer supports it and now use your recommended search.

Has anyone heard of a work-around that lets one use the Outlook search without having to install Windows Desktop Search ? I actually prefer Google’s desktop search but don’t want to sacrifice the Outlook search function.
