SkyDrive: 1GB Free Online Storage from Microsoft
By Mike G (6 posts -- read other by posts Mike G)
SkyDrive: For those times when you need to share files that are too large to send via email (or for sharing mdb’s which can be a pain to email, even if they are small).
SkyDrive is Microsoft’s addition to the ever growing list of services that allow you to store your files online - for free. You get 1 gig of free space. You also have the ability to easily allow other uses to view or edit your files. SkyDrive also provides urls to your files or folders, so you can easily set up links to them. Of course, MS has also added a module to windows Live Spaces that allows you to add a module that allows you to link to your files. There’s even RSS support, so you can monitor when someone has added/modified files.
Though, as of yet, there’s no way to access files stored there from windows explorer. To modify files, you have to download, edit, and then re-upload.
